bye bye bt,
Plug your phone into this tiny box, register for a free landline number with e.g. sipgate.co.uk, and make and receive calls via the internet just as with your existing bt line. If you have cable broadband (and a mobile for emergencies) you could dispense with your conventional landline altogether.
The call quality is good and the device supports voicemail, caller id, call waiting etc. Setup is easy but the supplied cd instructions are poor. However, clearer information is plentiful on the web. Recommended.

|Great little unit!,
We have cable internet at home and now use this little device along with a sipgate account and a normal DECT handset as out main phone. We ported our number across to sipgate and cancelled our BT phone line 8 months ago and have not looked back! No monthly line rental, cheap call costs, happy days!!!
In fact so impressed was I that I installed three of these devices at work (giving us 6 SIP lines) and after setting up a virtual PABX with voipfone.co.uk again was able to cancel our 3 x BT phone lines saving us a fortune as well as giving us 3 extra lines and the flexibility of a VPABX!! I have even been able to use the second line on my home adapter as an office extension meaning working from home is now easy!! Seriously can’t recommend highly enough.
One thing I would say is make sure you have an Internet router that has a QoS feature (most do nowadays)to allow you prioritise VoIP traffic over other IP traffic, this will totally cut out drop outs/echo that you may experience if you’re hammering your Internet conenction whilst using the VoIP phones.

|Exactly what I wanted…….,
I recently arrived in UK and bought three of these so I can call back home and to my brother in Ireland FREE!!!!! 24/7
It’s compact and perfect. We plugged them into the routers and using a normal analog phone with a simple set-up got an immediate dial tone.
I’m amazed at the good clear voice quality and the features of this device. I’m convinced that Cisco/Linksys knows exactly what they are doing. I’m not a big fan of Vonage and their monthly fees. So buying an “unlocked” Linksys, I have all the advantages for FREE
